When a project runs late or over budget, entitlement is decided by evidence, not by argument. A claim that is properly built, properly costed and properly evidenced gets settled. One that is not becomes a dispute.

We prepare, evaluate and defend construction claims for contractors, subcontractors and employers across the UAE, Oman and Sri Lanka. Our work is grounded in the contract, the programme and the records, and prepared to a standard that will hold up if the matter goes further.

How we work

Your matter is handled personally by the firm’s principal — a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors with more than four decades across Gulf and South Asian construction, a Master’s in Construction Law and Arbitration, and experience acting as an independent expert. You are not handed to a junior analyst.

We work to RICS, CIArb, SCL and IQSSL standards wherever they apply. And we will tell you honestly what your position is worth: if a claim is weak, you are better served knowing that early than discovering it in arbitration.

Where we have done this

As RFICCC

• Orugodawatta–Ambathale Road widening (Stage 1), Sri Lanka. Prepared the main contractor’s extension of time and associated costs claim on an OFID-funded scheme, for submission to the Road Development Authority. Extension of time granted in full.
• Rural road rehabilitation, Badulla District, Sri Lanka. Prepared the main contractor’s extension of time and associated costs claim across roughly 80 kilometres of Asian Development Bank funded works, for submission to the Road Development Authority.
• Mixed-use development, Colombo. Prepared the main contractor’s extension of time claim over twenty-six separate delay events on a high-rise development, in a sub-consultancy role.
• Red meat processing facility, Thumrait, Oman. Evaluated and made an interim determination on the main contractor’s extension of time and costs claim across sixteen delay events, instructed through the lead consultant.

In the chairman’s career

• Dubai Municipality office building. Prepared the contractor’s claim for losses and expenses following termination of contract, 2018. The parties settled on a part payment.
• Off Campus Student Housing, Dubai International Academic City. Prepared the contractor’s extension of time and associated costs claims. Extension of time granted in full.
• Guest Palace Complex for His Majesty the Sultan of Oman. Checked and assessed all extension of time and disruption claims, and disputed variations within the final account, reporting to the Deputy Head of Royal Estates. Final accounts across 265 contracts settled, with considerable savings against the revised budget.
